URL Variables for Field Values

Hi,

I would like to be able to pass field values via variables in the URL so for example with a url link from another program such as https://mydb.tadabase.io/myapp/ (Or my custom domain later) /equipment/addequipment?guid=ab12cd34&pid=12345&name=my new equipment and this open the add dialog with the fields prefilled by the url so I can just complete any other fields not passed by the url and press add.

Thanks

Dan

Dan,

This can be partially implemented inside of forms for submit rules. Have you had a chance to take a look at that?

Hi Moe,

I don';t see where/how, I can use form, connected record and user values but I don't see where I can choose url variable??

Thanks

Dan

Hey Dan,

It looks like this may be a duplicate question that has already been discussed:  https://support.tadabase.io/a/forums/topics/44001005414

Hi,

Not a Duplicate function, the other is to take variables within Tadabase and open and external application with them, this is to take variables passed from an external application via the url and create a new record with them in Tadabase.

So I have created a Chorme Plugin that grabs key data from a web application and have a button that opens tadabase with a url with url variables containing that data and I would like to trigger the add a new record dialog with those fileeds pre-populated so i just have to pick from another field like a connection field and that is added.

Thanks

Dan

Hey Dan,

To the best of my knowledge the only way to create new records based off of variable values in the URL would be to build a 3rd party application that reads those variables, and then call the Tadabase API to generate new records. If you haven't yet applied for our API program please take a look at this page:  https://tadabase.io/developer-api

Daniel, this is something we do have planned for the future, it would be set up quite differently where you'd choose the key in the URL and set it in the particular form field. I'll update you here soon as to exactly when we'll have this completed.

Thanks for you awesome feedback.

Hi Moe,

Sounds more like what i was thinking and even better than ways others do it :)

Thanks

Dan

I am looking for similar feature to use like activation link to provide to others so that upon use clicking that url I should be able to load the page with respective user specific content.

Is this or similar feature available

Hi,

Yes it is now active, It doesn't work on Modal Forms yet but the team are looking at that but if you go to your add form and click on the fields you will now see an extra toggle called "Get value from URL" and when its "Yes"you can add a "Param Name" like "my-var1" then use that to pass the value so myurl.ext/app/page?my-var1=test

Thanks

Dan
