The count field is a complex formula field that can count the number of records of any given connection field.

For example, if you wanted to count the number of tasks existing within a project you would use this count field to calculate this number. Let's walk through this example of counting the number of tasks within a project:

In our example, our app has two tables: Projects and Project Tasks. The Project Tasks table has a connection field that connects each Project Task to a Project:

Let's add the "Count Field" to our Projects table:

Then, we'll simply select the Project Task table and click Save:

As you can see below, we've added our projects and the project details in the page builder where we can see the number of tasks associated with each project:

Another example of how we could utilize the Count Field is to see how many projects are associated with each user. See this video for a demo on how we would accomplish this.
